Revised 2014 Inclement Weather Make-Up Plan for CNP Schools

(As of March 5th, 2014)

Beginning Monday, March 10th 2014, Choctaw-Nicoma Park School District will be adding ten (10) additional minutes to the school day in lieu of eight (8) minutes as per previous notifications prior to March 5th.  At Choctaw High School, Choctaw Middle School, and Nicoma Park Middle School, the school day will begin (10) minutes earlier and dismiss at the regular time. At James Griffith Intermediate, Indian Meridian Elementary, Choctaw Elementary, Westfall Elementary, Nicoma Park Elementary, and Nicoma Park Intermediate, the school day will begin at the regular time and the school day will be extended (10) minutes in the afternoon. Bus routes will be adjusted accordingly. In addition to adding more minutes to the school day for the rest of the year, school will also be in session on Thursday May 22nd.  Originally the school year was scheduled to be over on Wednesday, May 21st. This is necessary due to lost instructional time as a result of the latest winter storm that canceled school on March 3rd and 4th.  The school district had some inclement weather time built into the calendar but not enough to cover all the time we have missed this winter (7 days).  We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you as a parent or guardian. State law requires that we make up missed instruction time. By adding 10 minutes to the school day and extending the school year by one day we will meet the required attendance law. Please refer to individual school websites to check exact beginning and ending times for the school your child attends.
