Mrs. Abla

My name is Tara Abla and I am an alumni of the Choctaw School District.  I went to IME kindergarten-3rd grade; I went through Choctaw Jr. High and graduated from Choctaw High School in 1998.  I now have the privilege of teaching with my former (not old) teachers at James Griffith Intermediate.  I attended JGI 4th-6th grade.  Mrs. Gray was my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Uselton was my 6th grade homeroom teacher, and Miss Hardy was my 6th grade Math teacher.  It is an honor to now be able to work with them along with many other of my former teachers.

After I graduated from High School, I attended one semester at OCCC, and went on to earn a associate degree in business from Hillsdale Free Will Baptist college after attending there for 3 semesters (1 ½ years).  I then furthered my education at the University of Central Oklahoma and graduated with a Bachelors degree in December of 2002.

Also, in December 2002, I married my best friend and now husband Sean.  We have been married for four years.  I have a stepson, Christian, who is 9 and keeps us on the go with his extra-curricular activities and his buddies.  He is very social and loves to have friends over.  In May of 2004 we welcomed a new addition to our family.  Our daughter Tatum, who is now 2 ½ and keeps me on my toes.  She is a live wire and never meets a stranger.  I can say being a wife and mother is the most rewarding experience of my life.

Ever since I can remember I have wanted to be a teacher.  My mom is a 3rd grade teacher at NPI and my dad was the principal here at JGI for 24 years, and is now assistant Superintendent of Choctaw / Nicoma Park Schools.  I love being around the students and helping them succeed.  I tell them continuously “YOU WILL SUCCEED IN MY CLASS”.  I do not only believe they will succeed at school, but also in life.

I couldn’t ask to have a better group to work with.  I work with wonderful teachers and have, what I believe, is the best principal around.  They have spoiled me and I have told them they are stuck with me.  I love JGI, I love Choctaw, and I believe in the Choctaw/Nicoma Park School District.  I plan on being around for a while.
