Counselor's Corner
Welcome to my little corner of the Choctaw Elementary web site! My name is Dee Schendel and I am proud to be in my fourth year as Choctaw Elementary School's Guidance Counselor. I received my Bachelor of Science degree at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, with a double major in Elementary and Special Education. I was a Special Education teacher for 13 years before earning my Masters Degree in Elementary School Counseling at Wichita State University. I worked in the Norman and Moore school districts as a counselor before coming to CE.
I believe that my ultimate goal as school counselor is to equip students with the tools necessary to become successful and productive citizens. To this end, my classroom guidance lessons revolve around monthly themes designed to build character, respect, and responsibility. Students also have the opportunity to participate in small group or individual counseling. They may be referred by teachers, administrators, parents or themselves.
I love Choctaw Elementary. I believe our staff and students are the best and I am proud to be a part of it!
