A Message from the Principal. . .
Dear Choctaw Elementary Parents,
Welcome to Choctaw Elementary. Our focus is on learning! Our staff is committed to the purpose of providing a safe and nurturing environment that will ensure opportunities for your child's success.
Student achievement and high expectations are synonymous. Our curriculum is based upon the state of Oklahoma's Priority Academic Student Skills (PASS). You may locate these skills on the State Department of Education website, www.sde.state.ok.us. Our state report card and student achievement test scores have always reflected the high expectations we have for student learning. We provide a strong curriculum in the regular educational setting with additional resources as needed. Our special education department is staffed with a team that is second to none.
I am proud to announce that recently our school was one of forty that was awarded with a grant from "Schools for Healthy Lifestyles." We are very excited to have new resources and training that will increase awareness among the entire school community in regard to keeping healthy and physically fit. Teacher have already discussed ways in which to build activities into the classroom that will provide students short mental and physical breaks, enabling them to refocus better on the task at hand. Learning and keeping fit can be fun.
This year we have striped the walls in the older section of the building and the gym in Choctaw blue. The ceiling in the gym has been scraped and repainted as well. With last year's fundraiser proceeds, we were able to purchase two choral risers for student program performances, classroom sets of student chairs, and curriculum materials for each classroom. Thank you for your support of our school fundraisers. Our students are proud of our building and do a nice job respecting the campus.
At Choctaw Elementary, the students, parents, and staff have been able to form close bonds. As a small school of 368 students, we enjoy a large family type atmosphere. We know that parents are the first and foremost teacher in their child's life. I appreciate the value you place on education and your willingness to work with the CE staff members. Having this in mind, I would like to invite all of our wonderful parents to become an active member in the PTO. Your willingness to collaborate with others in planning school events will create fond memories for you and your child. With you, we will continue to build a community of life long learners. Choctaw Elementary is a great place to be!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lidia
