Graduation Requirements for Choctaw High School-

Beginning with the graduating class of 2000, Choctaw High School students must meet the following requirements in order to receive a diploma:

Language Arts     4 units    8 credits

Mathematics         3 units    6 credits

Science                  3 units    6 credits

(Social studies must include 4 credits of U.S. History, 2 credits of World History, and 1 credit of Oklahoma History.)

***Electives            13.5 units  27 credits

Arts                        (Embedded credit in World History and English 12)

(May substitute Vocal Music or Band for Arts)

54 Total Credits are needed to complete graduation requirements.

A minimum of 42 credits must be earned in the 10th, 11th and 12th grades.

*Math Requirements:  Three math courses are required for graduation.  Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II are required for college entrance.  Higher math courses are recommended for students planning to attend college.

**Science requirements for college entrance must include two units of a lab science, in which all science courses at CHS are lab courses.

***Elective requirements for entrance into an Oklahoma state college or university must include three (3) units of citizenship skills courses, computer courses, and/or foreign language courses.

****Colleges/Universities may require different entrance requirements. It is your responsibility to meet entrance requirements to the college of your choice.

A student must be enrolled in four classes per day and sixteen classes per school year.  There are no exceptions to this state mandated policy.  There is no early graduation.
